FAQs

  • If you’d like to attend either as a guest or a participant, you must first purchase a General Admission ticket.

Each ticket includes a cold lunch Saturday afternoon, a seat at the Feast Dinner (period costumes, evening attire or suits encouraged but not necessary) on Saturday evening, and a pastry breakfast Sunday morning. Registered attendees will be allowed to set up a tent and camp Friday and Saturday night.

  • What activities are available to General Admission attendees?

You will find a complete schedule of lectures, including our period dance workshops, here.

All attendees are welcome to watch the tournament; additionally, we encourage everyone to bring along a project in progress, a musical instrument, and other period pastimes.

  • Just as it says in the name, everything is included with the purchase of this pass - a seat in any/all of the tournament events as well as a seat at the feast.

**Please note: this ticket DOES NOT include admission to “Knightly Fighting Arts: A Fight Book from a Knight of Malta.” If you wish to attend that seminar, you must purchase a separate ticket.

  • Once your purchase is complete, a team member will contact you directly to confirm your tournament selection. So make sure the contact information you supply is valid! :)

  • Guests can expect an array of cold meats, cheeses, and fruits, as well as an assortment roast meats and sausages, vegetables, potatoes, and baked goods.

  • The Tournament of Defense will be held at Newman’s Castle in Bellville, TX.  Please follow this link for further information: http://newmanscastle.com/castle/

  • This year’s Tournament of Defense will be held November 1-3, 2024.

  • We encourage our guests to come as they are, in their favorite historical garb!  Anything from the era of the Rapier is encouraged, and we welcome Medieval kits as well!

  • Throw them in a cage, hahah!  No, really; we have a child admission policy, and it is as follows:

    * Children aged 6 and under can attend for free.  This does not include a plate at the feast, so you will be expected to provide snacks and meals for them.  Coolers are allowed.

    * Children aged 7 and up can attend at the full guest rate of $100 per each.  This does include a plate at the feast.

This is A LOT, and we understand that.  However, please bear in mind that we are working with VERY limited seating space, and each child’s ticket takes a spot from a fighter or a student.

  • Participants are allowed tent and camping privileges in the yards surrounding the castle.  Campers are allowed to bring firepits and grills. There will be basic restroom facilities available along with on shower which has hot and cold water.

All campers must exit the site no later than 10:30 a.m.

However, should you wish for more modern accommodations, there are several local inns, B&Bs, and AirB&Bs from which to choose.  Chain hotels in nearby Brenham, TX and Sealy, TX are another great option.

  • We do not currently have an official vendor policy.  However, if you wish to vend, we encourage you to contact us directly, either through the tournament website or through the tournament Facebook page.

  • Full refunds are allowed if requested prior to October 18, 2024.  After October 18, 2024, no refunds will be issued. In the event you are not able to attend, you may transfer your registration to another person. If the event is cancelled, all purchases will be refunded; however, we will not be responsible for any related travel expenses incurred by the attendee.
