Melissa Jones
Melissa fell in love with costuming as a little girl playing in her mother's sewing room. Making elaborate clothing from scraps led to a lifelong passion for historical fashion.
Melissa has taught many places over the years, both in person and virtually. Events, conventions, and even a university presentation on historical dress. She loves sharing and collaborating with others.
After a brief foray into the American Civil War reenactment, the Society for Creative Anachronism pulled her in during college orientation. Finally, a hobby with all of the hobbies, set in a historical context!
Since starting this journey over 25 years ago, Melissa has explored many arts through several time periods, but eventually settled on her true love: fashion and clothing in 16th century Italy. After being an active member in the 16th century Italian community for many years, she started the "16th Century Italian Workshop" group on Facebook as a place to support artisans and share resources for a local group wanting to do a 16th century Italian themed event. It quickly grew past its initial purpose, and now includes members from all over the world, sharing knowledge and helping each other master their craft. Melissa is excited to be at the Tournament of Defense to continue sharing her love of the 16th century with other enthusiasts.
